Sharron was a brave solider who was killed in Iraq.
Staff Sergeant Sharron Elliott, who grew up in Suffolk was one of four people killed in an attack on
a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway on Sunday, November 12 - she had
been serving in Iraq for just over a week.
Sharron was the second female British solider to die during the war in Iraq.
Staff Sgt Elliott joined the Army at 18 and spent her early career in the Royal Electrical and
Mechanical Engineers, proving herself when she qualified as an aircraft technician, the first female
to do so in the army.
She the transferred to the Intelligence Corps and served in Germany and Belize, as well as
completing a number of operational tours including service in Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Iraq.
She was born and brought up in Ipswich and moved to the North East in 1998.
She had four siblings, two of whom are still serving in the Army.
Staff Sgt Elliott had recently been posted to Cyprus from the Defence College of Intelligence where
she had been a highly successful instructor.

Jay is having some apartments built im his memory and they are naming the close after him he will be never forgtton its a shame its for the wrong reasons.Ill never forget him he was such a happy character allways with a big smile on his face im sure he is up there dragging you to the pub making everyone laugh.
God bless you all look out for your family and friends
Always
Always
As the sun starts to rise,
I'm with you
When you hear a bird sing,
I'm there
For each raindrop that falls,
think of me
And the love that we'll
always share
In the rush of the wind
feel my touch
In the quiet of night
hear my voice
If you start to stumble
take my hand
And know that it was
my choice
When tears start to fall feel
my comfort
If you feel low share
my pride
Don't ever think that you've
lost me
For I will always be there
by your side
I will never forget the day this beautiful young woman and her colleagues lost their lives... Rememberance Sunday 2006 was an especially poignant day for me and my family as our son and brother had arrived in Iraq the day before for his first Tour of Duty. I remember watching the Rememberance Day service in floods of tears - I always cry when I watch but this one was so moving for the reason mentioned already, and also the fact that our son's Battallion had lost a young lad just a week earlier.
When the news came of Sharron's death, and those of 3 male colleagues, I was just heartbroken and so very sorry.
May God be your strength and help, thinking of you always.
Much love,
Julie
